The artwork is deeply personal to me.
You see, I have a podcast called The Spark with Coco the Inspirationist. And as I was learning all the things to create, edit, brand and launch this passion project into the world, I was swimming in overwhelm. Being a self-taught, multi-passionate creative, I love following my inspiration. But as a recovering perfectionist, I would easily get stuck in the details and held back by feelings of not-enough-ness. (Can you relate?!)
One day I was sitting in the sun, sorting out my ideas into a creativity-crushing, anxiety-producing to-do list when the phrase 'Let it be easy’ floated into my consciousness. Like a little gift, it landed in my soul with a peacefulness and love that I so desperately needed. It was as if the fog lifted and I could finally see the path forward. I started using it as a mantra whenever I met discomfort or a challenge that felt too far out of my comfort zone.
'Let it be easy' became the grease in my gears and helped me move into action when I was frozen in fear.
And as the mantra helped me move closer to making my podcast a reality, I became inspired to translate it into a piece of art that could hang in my space to keep me aligned with my dream.
My favorite part of being a lettering artist is solving the puzzle of how the letters fit together, and once I locked them into place, the leaves flowed out of me and the entire sketch took shape. Then, as if divinely led, I picked up a tiny paintbrush I had recently purchased and started playing around with small strokes with India ink. A brand new-to-me technique emerged and I fell deeply in love with this piece all over again.
The journey of this artwork has been nothing short of magic and I’m thrilled to pass it forward to you. This mantra unlocked a new chapter of my life, a new leg of my creative journey, and a new way of living my life as a whole. I hope this piece of art brings you as much joy and abundance as has for me.
