This piece was created at the very beginning of the pandemic. We were locking down and adapting to our new reality of kids and school and fear and anxiety, and I was looking to lean into my creativity to smooth out the edges.

Back then, I was making precise hand lettered artwork and felt the desire to make something messier, play outside my comfort zone, and try on a different, looser style. And once I heard this delightful lyric to a song that I cannot for the life of me remember, it all flowed right out of me.

Weird inspiration story aside, I love the playfulness of the lettering and how it hugs the illustration. It feels like such a delightful, love-filled compliment. I mean, pomegranates are one of the most interesting, beautiful, sweet and playful fruits, aren’t they?

And I think the best kind of people are pomegranate people, amiright?
