Like so much of my work, this piece of art was birthed from a 30 day challenge. Since I am completely self taught, I use challenges to try out new techniques and stretch myself outside my comfort zone.

I took on this particular challenge to practice digital illustration, a skill I knew I could develop but had yet to take it on. I love so much of the work that came out of those thirty days, but this piece in particular has a special place in my heart.

You see, my boys are in love with all things reptile and amphibian. I wanted to make something that they would find interesting, as I really love bringing them in on my creative journey. I’m also a huge fan of mixing patterns and this snake was the perfect opportunity to play with both.
